15 year old George Hutcheson from Ridley is currently working towards his Duke of Edinburgh Award. A key part of the award is volunteering in the local community. Since July George has completed approximately 12 hours helping with mowing the Bulkeley playing field and cleaning up around the Brassey Stones. George says he has found learning about Thomas Brassey and the significant achievements that were made in rail and other construction projects very interesting. He was also able to volunteer his views in a recent meeting about the memorial location.
George is a pupil at Bishop Heber High School and has lived in the parish with his parents and sister for the last 3 years. The parish council thank George for his hard work and interest in the history of the area. Well done George!
