At the meeting held on Tuesday 13th May Chairman Idina Hastings retired after 27 years on the parish council, 18 as chairman.
Idina was presented with a gift of a Fortnum & Mason Hamper and a David Austin Rose from her fellow councillors. Vice Chairman Councillor Simon Jordan concluded the meeting with the following words:
"I have this evening the honour and the privilege on behalf of the Bulkeley & Ridley Parish Council (B&R PC) and residents to recognise our Chairman Idina Hastings for her Service on the occasion of her retirement from this post. Idina joined the PC in 1998 and has been Chairman from 2007 using her extensive life, work and family experience, including: a period abroad with family to deliver her role with steadfast commitment, consideration and diligence. Key achievements have been (not exhaustive): Relocation of the Brassey Stones (as a memorial to Thomas Brassey); Organisation and coordination of numerous Village days; Planting the MillenniumOak and annual toasting ceremony with Time Capsule; Custodian and compilation of local history documents; Instigator and organisation of volunteers for local village speed watch.
In summary, Idina has been pivotal in ensuring Bulkeley & Ridley are attractive, well maintained and safe places for people to live. On behalf of the B&R PC and residents thank you for your Service."
